10 Creepiest Children In Horror Movies

2. Sinister (2012)

Village Of The Damned 1995 John Carpenter
Momentum Pictures (UK)

This supernatural horror does not initially focus on the children as the main part of the story. Instead, it gradually lets you discover more about them along with the main protagonist Ellison.

The fate of the missing eldest daughter of the murdered family ‘Amy’ is initially hinted at, leading us to believe she was taken by whoever killed her family. This makes you think of her as a victim and that the killer is still out there and waiting to strike again.

The first children you are introduced to are Ellison’s son and daughter, Trevor and Ashley. Trevor provides the first real jump scare when Ellison finds him contorted and screaming in a box in the kitchen in the middle of the night. This is shocking as he appears inhuman and like he is being controlled by something demonic.

When Ellison finds out that all the murdered families had a child go missing, you are still under the impression that they have been harmed by someone else responsible for the murders. This makes the scene when he goes into the attic and sees them all with Bughuul more shocking as they are clearly all working together.

The final reveal of the ‘extra footage’ where each murderer is exposed as the emotionless ‘missing child’ is truly terrifying. The revelation quickly turns into Ellison’s horror when he realises he has been drugged and his daughter is about to slaughter him and his family with an axe.
