10 Creepiest Children In Horror Movies

Another Stephen King film, set in a rural American town, Children of the Corn has an eerily effective opening. The narration over the top of the brutal murders is a young boy’s voice. This emphasises the disturbing nature of the scene as it is in such contrast with what we are seeing on screen.

Showing the story of the cult through a montage of children’s drawings is also very creepy as the style of the pictures diverges heavily from the subject matter. It has the effect of portraying that the children don’t really understand that what is happening is evil, making it all the scarier.

Isaac and Malachai are frightening to watch as they appear to have complete control over the other children. Isaac also has the added arrogance that he can communicate with "He Who Walks Behind the Rows”, so he uses this to threaten people who do not comply with his wishes.

His return after his betrayal by Malachai makes him scary on another level, with a demonic voice, zombie-like appearance and super strength. You can see Malachai’s face change from arrogance to terror right before Isaac breaks his neck.

The fact that the film ends with Isaac only being defeated by being burned alive is a final reminder that this was a child to be feared as his death is vastly disproportionate to what should have been needed to kill him.
