10 Creepiest Children In Horror Movies

7. Eden Lake (2008)

Village Of The Damned 1995 John Carpenter
Rollercoaster Films

Eden Lake is set in the UK and is a unique take on British teenagers and chav culture. There are very few films that look at this sub-genre, but it is very effective as horror as these are people so you can imagine meeting in your everyday life.

The teenagers in the film are intimidating right from the start because they are not concerned about how they are perceived or if they are being annoying. Laughing, joking, and making crude comments, there is always the undercurrent that they can change to aggressive and violent in a heartbeat if you say the wrong thing to them. The thought that they are drunk and carrying weapons makes them very unpredictable and menacing.

When Steve asks them to be quiet, he is essentially marking himself and Jenny as targets to be attacked. The repercussions escalate far worse than Steve’s original ‘crime’ of asking them to move on, and there is a sense that everything has gotten out of control. The torture and murder scenes come out of their panicked fear that they have done too much and if they let them go, they will be persecuted for it.

The ending of the film shows you that their parents have basically not taught them right from wrong and are just as bad as they are. They will never be punished and all look after each other to protect them from anyone trying to call them out for their behaviour.
