Kirsten Dunst as Claudia is hands-down one of the most interesting vampire characters in all of film. Imagine being a dying woman transposed into the body of a child, trapped forever in puberty but retaining all the thoughts, feelings and urges of her adult self. Disturbing. In the book for which the movie was based on Claudia was originally five years old. However, the movie gave the character an update making her the creepiest tween vampire in cinematic history. With the body of a 12-year-old she yearns to be a women and dresses the part but becomes filled with self-loathing as people gawk at her in the street. This leads to Claudia lashing out, murderously so. Angry at the world she takes out her anger on whoever she pleases. Though, despite her self-loathing Claudia isn't exactly a reluctant vampire either. She likes the fact that she's superior to humans, she likes that she's a blood-sucking creature of the night. In the film's own words: "A little child she was, but also a fierce killer, now capable of the ruthless pursuit of blood with all a child's demanding."
