10 Criminally Underused Spells And Potions In Harry Potter
1. Felix Felicis
Effect: Makes the drinker lucky.
The introduction of Felix Felicis in The Half-Blood Prince led to one of the funniest moments in both the books and the movies. Though Harry’s actions were highly amusing, the introduction of this potion opened up a lot of questions.
As with many of the most powerful potions in Rowling’s magical world, Felix Felicis is not easy to make and has terrible consequences if done incorrectly. However, there were many gifted potioneers throughout the series – such as Snape and Slughorn – who could easily have made a stock of it.
In fairness, Harry did not learn of the potion until the penultimate novel. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that he didn’t even attempt to make some before embarking on his hunt for Voldemort’s Horcruxes.
Moreover, possibly the best aspect of the potion is that there is no way for someone to find out you’ve taken it. In this sense, Felix Felicis would have also proved invaluable in the various competitions and examinations that take place at Hogwarts every year.
