10 Cringe-Worthy Moments In Comic Book Movies

10. The Head Bump Miracle Cure

Despite being generally lauded as one of the finest comic book movies so far, 2012's 'The Avengers' can't escape making its way onto this list. Its entry here is thanks to what can only be described as a medical miracle when one of the heroes of the film was in danger. Now it may seem a little unusual to point out a flaw in anything scientific in a movie based so heavily in surreal versions of the real world, however this is just so ridiculous that it is truly cringe-worthy. During his underwhelming encounter with his former ally Black Widow, a hypnotised Hawkeye finds himself saved and restored to his former self courtesy of a small bump to the head. That's right, the magical curse inflicted on Hawkeye by Loki is lifted when the hero hits his head against a rail in a small fight, followed by being watched over by Black Widow for a few hours. It's easy to see why, in a film crammed full of so many intertwining narrative threads, a few 'easy way out' solutions were required to solve the heroes' problems. It is also easy to see, however, that there had to be a better way of restoring Hawkeye to assisting his colleagues with The Avengers. Hawkeye's head bump miracle cure was certainly a low point in an otherwise successful first outing for earth's mightiest heroes.
