10 Cringe-Worthy Moments In Comic Book Movies

3. 'Hero' Is A Loose Ter

Last year's Superman reboot 'Man Of Steel' was a film steeped in promise in all of its pre-release footage. The inclusion of some of the creative team behind the 'Dark Knight' trilogy gave the film a darker tone and saw it grounded a little further in a gritty reality that some fans have come to crave in a comic book movie these days. Now let's make it clear at this point that, no matter how dark a comic book movie becomes and no matter how much believable peril the villains invoke, we all know that the ending will be favourable. The hero may lose someone special or a part of themselves along the way, but ultimately they will triumph. It seems, however, that this new Superman may be the exception to this rule. While admittedly he does triumph over evil in the end of the movie, it seems he's willing to sacrifice a lot more of the people he attempts to save along the way. As the movie draws on and the battles become more intense, the death toll of this movie starts to skyrocket to the point where it becomes genuinely difficult to watch. Why is Superman killing everyone? It's remarkable to have to ask such a question in a comic book movie. We can only speculate it may be laying the seeds for a plot point in 'Batman vs Superman' whereby Superman defeats Batman by making his head explode as he continues to decimate earth's population in the name of 'Good'. Time will tell.
