10 Cringe-Worthy Moments In Comic Book Movies

4. Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Marc Webb's Spider-Man reboots have been rather contentious from day one amongst fans of comic book movies. While the first was widely disregarded as being unnecessary, the recent second instalment did fare a little better and has started to draw sceptical fans onside with Webb's vision for the future of the franchise. Though 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' managed to triumph in a number of ways, avoiding a place on this list will sadly not be one of them. During Electro's predictable power-consuming blackout towards the film's climax, various shots of peril and catastrophe are flashed in front of the audience to represent the danger Electro had managed to put the city in. While most of these fit fine, the absurd inclusion of a split-second, plane crash near miss was baffling to say the least. As Spidey battles Electro and manages to restore the power to his city just in time, the planes flash past within inches of each other. Cue relieved celebrations on the screen and seat-squirming in the audience. It's a particular shame that a scene like this mars the film as there was simply no need for it. The film's audience should have been given enough credit to understand the peril of the situation without such a ridiculous scene. It was simply embarrassing to behold and a cringe that could have been so easily avoided. Such a shame...
