David Cronenberg's Videodrome follows the CEO of a small television station named Max (played by James Woods) who discovers a broadcast signal (called Videodrome) featuring extreme violence and torture. He meets a girl named Nicki (played by Deborah Harry), who is actually into violence and torture. During sex, she cuts herself with a razor blade and even burns herself with a cigarette on her breast. Nicki reveals to Max that she's going to try out for Videodrome and, despite Max's objections, leaves to make her dream a reality. One of the most memorable moments from the film (aside from the stomach vagina) comes when Max is trying to get to the bottom of Videodrome via a video cassette that was sent to him. Ultimately the television screen begins to speak to Max specifically, Nicki appears on the screen and pleads for Max to kiss her. He does so, sticking his face into the television screen and indeed making out with his ex-lover through it. If you're unfamiliar with David Cronenberg's work than you might look at this scene with cringe-worthy bewilderment. If you are familiar with the director's work than this is just another day in the body horror park for you.
