10 Critically-Loathed Movie Directors Everybody Pretends Not To Like

9. Paul W.S. Anderson

paul-ws-anderson-680x450 Paul W.S. Anderson's bad reputation is mainly due to the fact that most of the movies he makes are poor adaptations of other popular source material (the Resident Evil franchise, Alien Vs. Predator, Three Musketeers). Pop culture geeks don't take kindly to that, and he's often a target for hate. And the fact that his name is so similar to Paul Thomas Anderson, one of the greatest modern directors, doesn't really help matters. It can be confusing to non movie geeks. I guess the biggest reason for Anderson's hate is something out of his hands: pressure from the movie studios. Take Alien Vs. Predator for example. Most people hated it because there was barely any all-out brawling between the two aliens, there were one dimensional human characters that the audience was supposed to identify with and above all, it was rated PG-13. These had to have been moves by the studio to make it more marketable, and Anderson had to follow that. So maybe we should lay the blame off him a little for that one. Oh yeah, he made Event Horizon and Mortal Kombat. Event Horizon is actually pretty good, and Mortal Kombat was a decent adaptation of the game. He deserves a little less venom.

What KC Mobley lacks in height, he makes up for in sheer passion. Especially when it comes to films and 80's heavy metal. Don't be afraid, he doesn't bite...much.
