10 Critically-Reviled Comic Book Movies (That Weren't Actually That Bad)
2. Daredevil

Critics Consensus: "While Ben Affleck fits the role and the story is sporadically interesting, Daredevil is ultimately a dull, brooding origin story that fails to bring anything new to the genre."
It's hard to feel like the above consensus is fair. Daredevil certainly has its issues but it's also artistic in a way that few movies - let alone comic book movies - are. Its aesthetic is eerily beautiful, making everything that happens in Hell's Kitchen feel that much more haunting and Gothic - as if it were actually a comic book that had come to life.
The immersive experience that it ensures we have does make up for some of its shortcomings, but let's not pretend this wasn't one of the coolest things we had ever seen back in 2003. Even though some of it has aged, the film still mostly holds up today - one of the many reasons why opinions of it have grown more positive in the years that followed.
In spite of what some might say - and in spite of how great his Batman is - Ben Affleck did a fantastic job as Marvel's Man Without Fear and he simply doesn't get enough credit for it, with his suave and endearing Matt Murdock juxtaposing nicely with his brilliantly dark and brooding hero.
