10 Criticisms Of The Amazing Spider-Man Films That Are Completely Unfair

6. The Lizard's Design Was Awful

One of the most common criticisms was that the design of the Lizard was awful. Specifically, many fans were disappointed that the Lizard was presented as having a fairly flat face rather than a long snout.

Of all the criticisms of the first film, this is one of the more reasonable ones. For many years and in many different media, the Lizard has been shown as having a long snout. This is pretty logical too, since basically all actual lizards do have a long snout, rather than being flat-faced. So it certainly would have made sense to go with that design choice for the Lizard in this film, and it probably would have worked very well.

But just because one design could have worked well doesn't mean that a different design isn't also acceptable. Significantly, the original design of the Lizard in the comics did not have a snout either; he had a flat face, just like the Lizard in this film. Surely, even if an alternative design would have looked good too, we can appreciate a film sticking close to the source material.

Additionally, if the film had given the Lizard a long snout, it's quite probable that he would have looked awful when speaking. Remember the 'Alan' scene from Jurassic Park 3? I'm sure we can all agree that no one would have wanted a repeat of that.
