10 Cures For Your Guardians Of The Galaxy Withdrawals

9. Space Truckers

Your appreciation of Space Truckers really all depends upon your relationship with schlock and B-movie pleasures, as Space Truckers is knowingly and lovingly a trek through the grungier straight-to-video side of sci-fi cinema and unashamedly so. That is not to say Space Truckers is mere trash, a wonderful cast including Stephen Dorff, Barbara Crampton, Debi Mazar and the scenery chewing one-two of Dennis Hopper and Charles Dance elevate the watchability factor and more than make up for the (semi-intentional) hokey effects, if you are put off by low-budget production values. Even if this is the case though Space Truckers is the work of the great Stuart Gordon, director of cult classics like Re-Animator and From Beyond, so you can be assured that the film's meagre budget was put to exceptionally good use. Once again we have a cast of disparate flawed characters aboard a vessel heading through the depths of space with a vague sense of purpose and direction. Whilst counting down the days to Guardians€™ DVD/Blu-Ray release you could do worse things than checking it out.
