10 Cut Scenes That Would Have Totally Changed Their Movies
8. The Lion King (1994) - Scar Makes Advances On Nala
At this point we've all seen The Lion King enough times to know that Scar (Jeremy Irons) is one of the most ferocious Disney villains to appear on the big screen. Likewise, to give him extra points, he also has one of the most menacing villain songs: 'Be Prepared'.
But one deleted scene released as part of the Signature Collection Blu-Ray depicts the conniving usurper in a much darker light, which would have made the otherwise lighthearted flick a lot less family friendly.
In the scene in question, Scar asks Zazu (Rowan Atkinson) why his newly-acquired subjects don't show him the same affection they did his murdered brother Mufasa (James Earl Jones). To which, the bird answers it's because he has no "loving family or devoted queen".
Here's where things get weird. Nala (Moira Kelly) enters after Scar raves about wanting cubs to carry on his lineage. A new verse of 'Be Prepared' plays where he tells her to "prepare for a stunning proposal", pins her down, and informs her his "cylinders are firing with fervour".
Although it doesn't alter the plot significantly, this deleted scene would have given the film implications that just wouldn't have fit with the film's tone..
