10 Dangerous Movie Scenes You Won’t Believe Didn't Kill Anyone

4. The Good The Bad And The Ugly: Eli Wallach Almost Dies Three Times

Based on the stories that have come out about Eli Wallach this film would be more aptly titled The Good, the Bad and the Really Lucky to Have Gotten Through Filming Alive.

Acid was applied to the sacks of gold used in the film to make them more fragile. Unknown to Wallach, the acid had been decanted into a soda bottle. He became very much aware when he drank from the bottle though.

In one scene Wallach is being hanged while sitting on a horse - unfortunately, while filming, said horse became spooked by the sound of a firing gun. With his hands tied behind his back Wallach had to remain on the speeding horse holding on with only his knees.

And the most notable incident you can actually see in the film is when Wallach's character uses a train to break his shackles. As the actor stood up after severing the chains he was nearly decapitated by metal steps protruding from the train moving at full speed.
