4. Martian Manhunter
I recently included The Martian Manhunter in my list of
comic book characters that deserve their own TV shows, and since it appears that isn't going to happen anytime soon, how about an animated feature of his own? J'onn J'onzz first appeared in 1955, is one of the last surviving members of his race, and has a wide array of powers including shape shifting, telepathy, x-ray and heat vision, invisibility, super strength, and flight. He uses shape shifting to blend into humanity, and when he's not fighting crime as the Manhunter, he fights crime as hardboiled detective John Jones. He's been a member of nearly every incarnation of the Justice League, and though he has yet to fully gain mainstream popularity, he is often considered the heart and soul of the JLA, became a recurring character on Smallville, and has appeared in numerous animated shows and JLA films. IGN ranked the Martian Manhunter as the 43rd greatest comic book character of all time, and called him "one of the most criminally underrated characters in comics." The Manhunter's origin story, which features a martian holocaust that destroyed his family and entire race, as well as his unique rogues gallery, offer a basis that would make for a great animated feature film.
