Years before DC's master archer Oliver Queen featured in a hit TV show, his cinematic debut was being lined up with some pretty big names involved.

The Dark Knight and Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer was set to direct Green Arrow: Escape From Super Max based on a screenplay he penned with Justin Marks.

The movie's premise saw the hero banged up in a prison full of B and C-list DC villains for a crime he didn't commit. There would have been A-list cameos too, as Goyer had clearance to include Lex Luthor, The Joker and The Riddler in minor roles.

It sounds like a lot of work went into the planning stages of Super Max, with architecture major Marks having spoken at length about the titular prison's design and how it was specifically built to house super-powered criminals.

Goyer gave a few sporadic updates about the project since it was first announced in 2008, but since it isn't listed as in active development under the new DC Entertainment brand, it's prsumed canned.
