10 DC Comics That Would Make Perfect Animated Films
6. A Lonely Place Of Dying
Every fan of DC and Batman knows about a Death in the Family. It’s an iconic storyline that will go down as one of the most renowned marketing ploys of all time. Even the animated adaptations proved to be a massive success for the company.
One thing the creators missed out on was a chance to slow down the mourning Bruce Wayne and let the audience feel his struggle. A Lonely Place of Dying is an origin story focused on a reckless Batman fighting without fear after the death of Jason Todd. Nightwing is sent to help, but it’s Tim Drake, the soon to be Robin, that saves them both in the end.
Watching the Bat-family come together like this for the first time is a real treat. The kind of story worthy of an animated release. Sure, fans know all these characters now, but not in the barebones way they deserved.
A Lonely Place of Dying strips away all the spectacle of the Dark Knight and leaves the viewer to confront the emotional side of Bruce Wayne and all his vulnerabilities.
