In Man of Steel's early sequences, a key moment occurs when a thirteen-year-old Clark saves a school bus full of children from drowning. In Batman v. Superman, Batman is clearly older than Superman and states he has been fighting crime for twenty years.

With these two pieces of information, some fans took to social media to share a theory regarding Batman's origins. According to their math, Clark would have saved the school bus from drowning about a year before Bruce took up the cape and cowl. Thus, they stipulated that Clark's act of heroism is actually part of what inspired Bruce to become Batman in the first place.

And according to Snyder, they're not wrong. Snyder liked their theory and then commented, saying:

"Yes you guys yes"

So according to Snyder, if Clark had never disobeyed Jonathan Kent in Man of Steel by saving those children, Gotham might not have ever had a Batman.
