5. Bates' Motel - Psycho (1960)
The remote and secluded lodging outside the quiet town of Fairvale is owned by the disturbed Norman Bates and his mentally ill mother, which best suits the needs and accommodates to many a traveller and those seeking imperative shelter. On the surface Norman appears to be attractive, youthful and at times, a nervous man, who is constantly bickering with his mother as she vocally opposes towards the presence of other women. The motel radiates uncertainty with it's following shadows and the creeping feeling of constantly being watched with eyes in a voyeuristic way. As its hallways and rooms are decorated with lifeless stuffed birds and many mirrors scattered throughout, making this motel an unnerving and eerie place to reside.
Tip to survive: Don't shower.
