10 Deaths That Ruined Horror Movies

2. Laurie Strode - Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

Halloween's Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has been battling her sometimes-brother Michael Myers for four and a half decades by now, and though she usually escapes, defeats or otherwise outsmarts the nigh-indestructible horror icon, he has proven to be her equal once or twice.

Halloween: Resurrection retcons the events of H20 (1998), in which Michael is decapitated and seemingly done for good, by bringing him back to face Laurie one final time (kind of). But if fans thought they were in for another dose of scream queen Curtis, they were sorely mistaken. Myers gets the better of her at the end of the first act, and the rest of the film drags like entrails.

Yep, Michael stabs our heroine and drops her off the roof, leaving us with a cast of series unknowns and literal bad actors, with barely a plot to string between them. Ever wanted to see Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks face the Haddonfield stalker? Neither have we.

It's a sad indictment on the series, and early noughties horror cinema in general. So, thank the devil for the arrival of David Gordon Green's new trilogy in 2018, which retconned the many disappointing sequels and gave us something we don't have to turn off midway through.
