10 Delayed Sequels That Really Weren't Worth The Wait

10. Hannibal (10 Years)

Silence of the Lambs was both a critical and commercial smash hit when it was released; as well as becoming only the third movie to land the 'Big Five' at the Academy Awards (Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Adapted Screenplay), Jonathan Demme's thriller also earned $272.7m at the box office, which is over $470m when adjusted for inflation. A full ten years later the sequel finally hit theaters, but unfortunately it wasn't a patch on its predecessor. Even though key players Demme and Jodie Foster didn't return, more than capable replacements were found in Ridley Scott and Julianne Moore. Add to that a talented ensemble cast including Gary Oldman and Ray Liotta, and it seemed that all the ingredients were there for a worthy follow-up. However, despite featuring some strong performances and great visuals, Hannibal turned out to be a huge letdown; over-the-top, frequently dull and with a disappointing third act, the unlikely blockbuster franchise had made a real stumble on its second outing.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
