10 Deleted Horror Movie Scenes You Need To See
6. Baboon Cat - The Fly
As if The Fly wasn't already off the wall enough in its portrayal of a scientist getting his calculations very, very wrong, there was almost a scene added that made it even weirder. David Cronenberg's story of Seth Brundle attempting to engineer a successful teleportation device - but accidentally merging his DNA with a house fly in the process - is a body horror masterpiece that shows the deterioration of the human form, but Cronenberg didn't originally intend for the gloopy madness to stop there.
As Brundle loses his mind in the pursuit of sorting out the fleshy mess he's devolving into, he brings two animals together to try and replicate his fusion process. Sticking a baboon and a cat together via some very science-y coding sequences, a monster is born, which Brundle then clubs to death because it's weird and creepy and probably unsafe to keep as a laboratory pet.
Apparently, this scene was enough to bring test audiences to projectile vomit, as well as taking away the layer of sympathy embedded into Brundle's character that's so important to how the film plays out. Really, after seeing the gross little fly arm pop out his stomach at the end, it's no wonder why this scene was cut.
