10 Deleted Horror Movie Scenes You Need To See

4. The Spider Pit - King Kong

Whilst the modern iteration might not feel like a straight horror movie, the story has undeniably always been one closely intertwined with the horrific - and the original 1933 version wasn't afraid to use that to its advantage. Full of gigantic creatures battling each other to the death, there was one scene that was clipped for being 'too fantastic', that saw the sailors stuck on Skull Island dropped into a bit of monsters who emerge to then tear them apart.

When movies were made back in the day, deleted scenes were often immediately destroyed since they no longer served a purpose. As such, this sequence is pretty much a legend at this point, removed for terrifying audiences and distracting them from the rest of the movie - as a bunch of people being eaten alive by spiders would, really.

The idea was recreated in Peter Jackson's own adaptation of the title in 2005 though, and with the left over budget from the movie Jackson reconstructed the lost reel to the best of his ability, meaning we can thankfully see the spider pit still today. Considering it's nothing to the level we see nowadays, it's still eerily gnarly.
