10 Deleted MCU Scenes You Have To See
7. The Ten Rings Tattoo - Ant-Man
Like a few scenes featured here, this scene is really more about what it establishes for the wider MCU than what it does for Ant-Man in particular. For that reason, it’s understandable that it be cut for time, especially with Ant-Man’s real purpose being to establish Scott Lang and the rest of the cast rather than make explicit links to the wider storyline.
The scene in question seems to be trying to set right the divisive portrayal of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. Not everyone was enthused by the comedic version of Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery pretending to be the Mandarin, nor with the reveal that Guy Pierce’s Aldrich Killian was the real Mandarin.
Marvel One Shot All Hail The King on the Thor: The Dark World DVD revealed that the real real Mandarin was still out there, and could yet appear in the MCU again.
This scene doubled down on that and brought it from the One Shots to the MCU itself. One of the characters has a prominently displayed Ten Rings tattoo on his neck, suggesting that the Mandarin’s organisation (and by extension the man himself) are still active.
