10 Deleted MCU Scenes You Have To See

8. Thor & Frigga Discuss Loki - Thor: The Dark World

A lot of the dialogue in Thor: The Dark World kind of drifted into nowhere, and a few of the scenes felt superfluous, with the film failing to really forge a connection between the audience and many of the minor characters.

Taika Waititi brutally slashed away the unnecessary fat to create a much leaner, more entertaining world in Ragnarok, but even before he arrived things were being cut from Asgard’s world building. Unfortunately, with this scene they cut out something which really should have stayed in.

Of the four members of Thor’s immediate family (five if you include Hela), Loki and Friga are undoubtedly the closest. There are enough scenes which suggest this anyway, but none which really explore it. There actually had been once, but to the surprise and disappointment of many fans, it was left out of the film’s final cut.

It’s particularly a shame as The Dark World is where Loki’s redemption arc began: he’s an out and out villain in Thor and Avengers, and starts this movie in the same way. By demonstrating Frigga’s tenderness towards him, they could have laid the groundwork for this much more seamlessly.
