10 Deleted Moments In Recent Movies That Nearly Happened
7. A Particularly Gory Scene Was Deleted - Cocaine Bear
Though Elizabeth Banks' recent chaotic Cocaine Bear flick did certainly contain its fair share of barmy and rather gory moments of madness, the director would ultimately reveal there was actually one rather horrific scene towards the end of the flick that she opted to leave on the cutting room floor.
Why? Because she felt it would've made audience members want to "throw up" and freak out as they left her drug-snorting bear movie (via Insider).
While the film did still opt to show off the nasty aftermath of an attack on Kristofer Hivju's hiker, with an "amazing prosthetic" being used to tell the story of Olaf's face being ripped off by the titular animal, Banks originally fully shot that savage attack before deciding against using it in her movie.
The director simply wanted her audience to remain on the emotional ride of the third act and felt that having this brutal killing go down so close to the end of the story wouldn't have resulted in people leaving the feature feeling "happy."
After already showing a number of folks getting torn to shreds by the cocaine-powered furball, Banks clearly felt that by the time Olaf was set to be given a particularly painful face-lift "the point had been made of what's happening".
