Easily one of the most spectacular sequences Tom Cruise and the rest of the Mission: Impossible gang find themselves in the middle of during their recent Dead Reckoning Part One adventure involves the team and a speeding train.

And while the finished train chaos found in the film still sees Cruise's Ethan and Hayley Atwell's Grace trying to keep from falling to their deaths within a few hanging carriages, and the former fighting with the villainous Gabriel on top of the locomotive, director Chris McQuarrie has since revealed that one of the riskiest and most dangerous parts of the sequence didn't even make the cut!

Whilst speaking on the Empire Spoiler Special podcast, the director explained how they built a resettable rig for one part of the train finale. However, he'd eventually claim that "nothing we did worked, and ultimately the actors had to risk their lives and do it practically".

After testing the thrilling train climax a number of times with audiences, though, it soon became clear that this part of the sequence had to go.

Even with this chunk of the action requiring an "extraordinary" amount of work, struggle, and risk to capture on camera, McQ knew they had to lose the moment. And once they did, "the scene just sang".
