10 Deleted Scenes That Explain Confusing Sci-Fi Movie Moments

1. Why Didn't Obi-Wan Tell Luke About His Father? (Return Of The Jedi)

Star Wars fans are all pretty much in agreement that Obi-Wan Kenobi not telling Luke Skywalker about his true parentage was a horrible thing to do.

If your dad was an evil space wizard, then you'd want your old man's friend to tell you.

However, as this single line of dialogue shows, it may not have been his fault after all.

In an unused clip from Yoda's death seen in Return of the Jedi, the little green fella tells Luke that Obi-Wan would have told Luke that his father was Darth Vader long ago "had I let him".

So it was actually Yoda's fault this entire time? And we all got mad at Obi-Wan for no good reason? Sorry, Ben, that's our bad.

These dozen or so words add so much depth to Kenobi's character. It changes him from a stoic old man keeping the truth from Luke to a concern guardian who wants to tell him but is forbidden.

This is easily the shortest deleted scene on this list, but it is also the one that might have had the biggest effect had it been left in.
