10. Liam Neeson - The Hangover Part II

Nick Cassavetes in The Hangover Part II - you remember him, right? Of course you don't; if the creatives behind the project had had their way, he would never have played the part of sleazy Bangkok tattoo artist Joe in the first place. Originally, Joe was to have been played by Mel Gibson, but when that unhinged quinquagenarian proved unavailable (read: the cast and crew refused to work with him because of his 'provocative' views), producers turned to the next one. Enter Liam Neeson, then riding a wave of renewed success thanks to his re-emergence as an action hero who was literally too old for this s**t, and who seemed perfect to play a gruff, surly middle-aged loner hiding way out in the sticks. Neeson turned up to Warner Bros. studios and shot his part, but when director Todd Phillips got round to editing the movie, he decided to re-jig the scene and hire Nick Cassavetes to take over Neeson's role. Neeson's cameo got chucked in the Recycle Bin at the edit bay, and all the audience is left with is an explanation why Cassavetes usually sticks to directing.
