10 Deleted Stars That Were Bigger Than The Final Movie
9. Ben Affleck - Elektra
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4kCroRMLX0 There wasn't ever much financial hope for superhero movie bomb Elektra, given it was a spin-off centred on a side-character from the poorly-received Daredevil, and that its biggest star - Jennifer Garner - was a B-lister reprising her role merely because she was contractually obliged to. If only Daredevil star Ben Affleck hadn't been cut out of the film before release. As you can see from the clip above, Affleck had only the briefest of scenes, but it couldn't have hurt Elektra's box office chances had he been kept in the film. Daredevil may not have been to everyone's tastes, but it had its fans, and Ben Affleck was still a draw at this point (this was before his career went into a brief coma, prior to his career resurrection with Argo). Affleck's involvement in Elektra could have at least generated further intrigue, in the same way that the promise of Jean Grey in promotion for The Wolverine piqued fan interest in that film. Y'know, before everyone who went to see the film found out she was barely in it.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
