10. Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) Superman: The Movie
Margot Kidders Lois Lane kind of falls somewhere in the middle territory. She doesnt do a whole lot in the Superman movies to help advance the plot or to aid Superman in any way and she frequently does end up as the damsel in distress. But that being said, Kidder does get a pass because of her overall portrayal. Right from the opening scene, were introduced to Lois as a motormouth, confidant reporter, who also has the amusing tendency of being an absolutely terrible speller. Shes got virtually every single person at the Daily Planet fawning over her, including the hero. Lois proves herself when after leaving the Planet with Clark, theyre attacked by a mugger. Here, its Lois who plays the role of defiant hero, kicking their attacker and proving shes not one to put up with any crap (it almost gets her shot, but fortunately Clark is there to help her). While she does get a bit too schoolgirlish in the presence of Superman, Margot Kidder still set the stage for the other women on this list and deserves mention if for no other reason than that.
