10 Most Desirable Girlfriends In Comic Book Movies

8. Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) €“ The Dark Knight

We mentioned Rachel Dawes as one of the most annoying, but that was a different actress. Katie Holmes, who played Rachel in Batman Begins, declined to reprise the role in The Dark Knight so that she could Mad Money instead. Although it€™s a decision Holmes likely regrets, for the fans it was a blessing. Because out of that, we got Maggie Gyllenhaal to replace her. In the Nolan Batman films, Rachel Dawes was this ideal woman Bruce aspired to be with, but unfortunately, no one in the theater during Batman Begins could understand what exactly it was that Bruce saw in her. Gyllenhaal provided that answer. Her Rachel was just as smart and gutsy as Gordon, Dent, and Bruce, not afraid to take chances. After Harvey is attacked in the courtroom by one of Maroni€™s goons, he€™s the one who is more shaken up about it than Rachel, who just quips that €œif you€™re not getting shot at, you€™re not doing your job right.€ Unfortunately, Rachel did end up a victim of the Joker. But at the very least, Gyllenhaal made her a far more memorable character than she had been by the end of Batman Begins.
