10 Directions Sony Could Take The Amazing Spider-Man 3

2. Finally Crossing Over With The MCU...

The main event from all of those nabbed emails and internal memos and the like, however, was something that fanboys and laymen alike had been clamouring for ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe first began to flourish. Right now Marvel are gearing up for their third €œphase€ of releases, with a third Captain America film slated to bring Iron Man and Black Panther together in an adaptation of the hit Civil War comic book storyline. And who else features strongly in that particular storyline? None other than your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, who not only features but is kind of integral to the central conflict (the abridged version: some superheroes think they should be registered with the government, others wanna keep their secret identities), as he flits back and forth between Iron Man on the pro-registration side and Captain America on the anti. Considering how essential he is to the plot, then, surely he should put in an appearance? Apparently Sony were strongly considering it. Yes, for a brief glittering moment it looked like the MCU's New York skyline was finally going to get back the one thing it was missing, with Marvel strongly in favour of nabbing Spidey back for a cameo appearance at least, but negotiations appeared to fall through at the eleventh hour. So if that film ends up sucking, you could always blame Sony! Again!
