10 Directors Who Almost Directed 2014's Biggest Movies

1. Steven Spielberg Almost Directed Interstellar

The original premise of Interstellar - concocted by the team behind Contact rather worryingly - actually attracted the attention of Spielberg, and the film began development in summer 2006 based on an 8 page treatment. The plan was for the film to be long in development before Spielberg would direct it, and Jonathan Nolan was hired in 2007 to begin writing it. Unfortunately, audiences were robbed of the chance to see another potential Amblin-inspired classic when Spielberg moved his production company (Dreamworks) from Paramount to Disney and dropped out of the running. At that stage Nolan suggested his brother, who joined the production in 2012, and the rest was mind-boggling, space porn history. What It Would Have Been Like Well, he couldn't have written a love letter to himself, so different in that respect: one thing that is clear is that the Rubiks like robots would have been humanoid (and less effective) and someone would probably have been divorced. Which of these directors would you have preferred to direct 2014 movies? Which were massive dodged bullets? Share your thoughts below in the comments thread.
