10 Directors And The Superhero Films They Should Make
3. Chad Stahelski - Deathstroke
Forget Joker, the DC villain most suited to any sort of solo story is Deathstroke. The character has a definitive origin, his comics are effectively action movies and he could be played by a whole host of middle-aged action stars.
While the first and last of those elements are irrelevant to the subject of this article, the middle one is a quality that makes Chad Stahelski a fantastic choice to direct a film about the character.
Stahelski is the other co-director of the first John Wick and the sole director of Chapters 2 & 3. These films are filled to bursting with sublime, over the top action, a trait that would lend itself well to a movie about a similarly well-trained assassin like Slade Wilson.
As for why Stahelski would be better suited to Deathstroke and Leitch to Punisher? It simply comes down to that the movies Stahelski has done since John Wick 1 have been neon-soaked shootouts and Leitch's have been more grim and grimy. Deathstroke is a super-soldier in an orange costume, the Punisher is an insane man with a skull on his chest - it's obvious then which directing style fits with which character.
