10 Director's Cuts That Changed Your Mind About Bad Movies

2. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

There's little defending Zack Snyder's theatrical cut of Batman v Superman. A muddled soup of awkward, ill-fitting and poorly explained subplots, with wonky character motivations and long stretches of legitimate boredom, it's a slog of a movie that scarcely delivers on its titular promise.

Snyder's Ultimate Edition features an additional 31 minutes of material, and while the 182-minute version of the film still has its obvious issues, it's a far more cohesive and, dare one say, actually decent film.

With additional, R-rated violence, an actual explanation for Superman (Henry Cavill) being framed for the Africa massacre (the corpses were burned!), numerous more scenes of Superman being heroic and the restoration of Jena Malone's lab tech Jenet Klyburn, it's shockingly clear just how badly the theatrical release was hurt by executive meddling.

It's fair to say that Batman v Superman probably needed to be a simpler - and certainly shorter - film overall, but Warner Bros. really did Snyder and co. dirty with the version they dumped in cinemas.
