10 Directors Who Suffered The Most In 2015

3. Brad Bird (Tomorrowland)

Instead of helming Star Wars, Brad Bird passed to pursue his passion project, Tomorrowland. While he likely won€™t regret developing a movie he had long wanted to make, fans certainly don€™t share that same feeling. Forget a good track record, Bird had a golden history of films behind him, including The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. Everything he€™d done was fantastic and the inventive Tomorrowland looked to continue that trend. Unfortunately, something along the way didn€™t click, critics thought it didn€™t live up to its potential and audiences didn€™t show up in big enough crowds to justify its massive budget. Tomorrowland has been overblown as a bigger failure than it was, especially because the film itself is not terrible, it€™s just not great either. Brad Bird is going to continue to make films, and most of them will probably be excellent, but that doesn€™t mean 2015 wasn€™t tough on him. Working in animation has taught Bird than anything is possible, but Tomorrowland may have shown him reaching just a bit further than he could grasp. Without a doubt, Bird will find a way to right the ship.
