10 Directors You Can Always Trust To Deliver Awesome Films

8. Woody Allen

8. woody allenNotable Films: Annie Hall, Manhattan, Midnight in Paris, Match Point, Crimes and Misdemeanors Woody Allen has a come out with a film per year since 1977, of course with that many numbers he€™s bound to have more than a few bad pictures. There has to be credit due, the man loves to make films and nothing is going to stop him, no critic, no box office sinker, nothing. Woody will be typing up scripts on his decades old typewriter until the end of his life. While it's safe to say the bulk of greatness takes place in his formative years (Annie Hall, Manhattan, Crimes and Misdemeanors), mathematically he's bound to come out with some great movies every once and a while, just look at Midnight in Paris. And if you're feeling nostalgic or want an overview of the man's career, I highly suggest checking out PBS's documentary streaming on Netflix. If you€™re a fan of the Woody Allen brand neurosis and voice, as I am, I€™ll always give him a shot. I've particularly enjoyed following his work the past few years as he tours all over Europe. We've followed Woody out of Manhattan and on to London, Barcelona, Oviedo, Paris, Rome, and now he's back in the states with Blue Jasmine, set in San Francisco. There€™s something about Woody Allen€™s pictures that come out during the summertime and just give you a feel (a lot has to do with his hand-picked music). Keep them coming, Woody!

I'm currently getting my masters in Writing and Publishing in Chicago. I usually fill my time with marathoning great television. My favorite shows are The Sopranos, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Wire, Lost, and so much more. Count on me to write mainly about television.
