10 Disappointing Films That Deserve A Second Chance

5. The Hateful Eight
The Hateful Eight

The Hateful Eight has a shot at being the most perplexing movie yet from a filmmaker whos hardly known for understatement. It starts out as a western, turns into a whodunit and finishes up as a Wild West take on Reservoir Dogs when the characters turn on each other.

Its also the kind of film that Tarantino has made his own since at least Kill Bill a down and dirty exploitation movie, told well and extravagantly, with terrific performances and dialogue so sharp it could cut glass. Souped up with 70mm cinematography and an Oscar winning score by Ennio Morricone, this is a night at the movies unlike any other.

Like Kill Bill, its a simple idea told in a manner thats both beautifully crafted and in-your-face. The Hateful Eights narrative is basically the Kill Bill saga told in reverse, starting with all the talk before cutting straight to the over the top, exploitation movie-inspired violence and gore.
