10 Disappointing Movies That Ruined Summer 2013

8. World War Z

world war z third actDid It Succeed?: $502.7 million at the box office, making it Brad Pitt's highest-grossing film to date. Critical approval sits at 67%. Why It's Disappointing: There was so much bad press surrounding this movie pre-release - namely the executive decision to re-shoot the majority of the third act - that it was a success the final product was even half-way coherent. That doesn't mean it's a good film, though, and in fact, World War Z just might be the dullest zombie movie ever made. From the irritating child actors to the unconvincing CGI zombies and generally boring trajectory of the plot, there's little here we haven't seen before. Furthermore, a PG-13-rated zombie film, really? Why even bother? Still, the film's inexplicable commercial success - owed to the seemingly unshakable popularity of the zombie film - has ensured that a sequel will soon be on the way.
