Cube is a low-budget Canadian independent science-fiction horror film released back in 1997. It's the first of three movies in the Cube Trilogy, and it's also, by far, the nastiest. The movie begins with people waking up in strange cube-shaped rooms, each of which is joined to another room on each of its six sides.

Some of the rooms contain traps, and they are all deadly. The group of five strangers works together to try and find their way to the outer wall of cubes, as they come to realize that the total construct is 26 cubes across, totaling 17,576 rooms in a massive cube structure.

All of the rooms are numbered, and they find that the rooms that aren't tagged by prime numbers are safe, but eventually, it turns out that this isn't the case, and more people die. As they move further inside the Cube, tensions rise, and violence ensues.

Throughout the film, the trapped rooms reveal some of the most disturbing devices ever devised in a horror film. The very first one shown in the movie is also the opening scene, which shows a man standing in the middle of a room, clearly thinking he's safe. Unfortunately, a grid of wires slams across him, and in an instant, he's turned into hundreds of cubed chunks of meat that slowly fall to the ground. Try getting that image out of your mind over 20 years after first seeing the movie.
