10 Disney Live-Action Remakes That Won't Happen

3. The Emperor's New Groove

Disney's 2000 animated cult favourite starring David Spade and Patrick Warburton The Emperor's New Groove is unlikely to receive a live-action remake for several reasons, despite positive critical reviews and audience reception.

The biggest reason for a lack of a live-action Kuzco tale would be that despite Emperor's New Groove having a direct to DVD sequel and a television series the franchise is not as popular as animated Disney household name staples, such as The Lion King.

Also working against Kuzco, Pacha, Yzma, and Kronk would be the poor box office performance of Emperor's New Groove. Failing to make 2x its budget at the box office means that Emperor's New Groove was a box office bomb and therefore it is unlikely Disney would risk losing money on this franchise once again.
