7. Scar

Appeared in: The Lion King (1994) He may be responsible for the most traumatic moment in your childhood (no, Mufasa, don't trust your brother!) but Scar is such a master villain that a tiny part of you can't help but applaud him for his cunning and - dare we say it - side with him. Well, we all fight with our siblings sometimes, right? Brought to life by some fine animation and the silky tones of Jeremy Irons, Scar is one of the most enjoyable villains Disney has ever produced. He's a Shakespearean villain who just happens to be a lion - quite literally, as he is loosely based on Hamlet's evil Uncle Claudius. Having caused the greatest tragedy in a Disney film since Bambi's mother died, it's hard to completely root for Scar but he is so gleefully nasty to members of his own family, nay, the whole of his own kind that he somehow wins your heart. And that's something you can't be prepared for...
