Appeared in: The Little Mermaid (1989) Without any crimes as serious as Scar's, Ursula the sea witch is a villain who simply enjoys being bad and is therefore great fun to watch. With the aid of another great character design (though note that she only has the six tentacles rather than eight, due to the film's small budget) Ursula helped shepherd in the renaissance of great Disney villains. In her bid to revenge herself on King Triton and the underwater city of Atlantica, Ursula exploits Ariel's affection for her landlubber lover and steals the mermaid's voice - only to later use that voice and a disguised form to bewitch Ariel's beau away from her. But what makes Ursula a villain you actually root for happens near the end of the film - when, unlike most Disney villains, she achieves her goal of stealing Triton's trident and begins ruling over the seas. It's this unusual turn of events - and how determined she has been to her cause for the rest of the film - that makes you really hope that a Disney deliquent for once makes it out on top. Spoiler: she doesn't.
