10 Disturbing Life Lessons Disney Movies Teaches You

9. Assassinations Are Effective

Longlivetheking I personally believe Disney films, while attempting to set clear examples of both good and evil, do almost too good a job of displaying how effective evil can be. By this I mean that in most Disney films the villain seeks to kill whoever stands in their way usually by means of assassination. In The Lion King, Scar assassinates Mufasa, in Aladdin, Jafar almost assassinates Aladdin and plans to assassinate the Sultan, in Snow White the wicked Queen attempts to assassinate the princess with a poisoned apple, in The Rescuers Down Under, McLeach almost assassinates Cody by throwing him to the crocodiles so the rangers won't come looking, etc. The list is endless. Now villains are by definition, bad people, and bad people sometimes do kill others to get their way. History and filmmakers have shown this to us over and over again. The disturbing part about it being a continuous theme throughout Disney films is that it teaches us, albeit subconsciously, that eliminating what stands in your way by stealthy permanent means is effective. Just ask the US Army back in Vietnam before the American Government made political assassinations illegal.
