10 Disturbing Life Lessons Disney Movies Teaches You

8. All Men Must Be Princes (Image Crisis for Boys)

Official Disney Princes By Nuts4books9 D4d9jcq I'm willing to bet that you may have never stopped to consider this one before. When most people think about Disney films harming a child's impressionable interpretations of grown up love and what they must do to acquire it they of course think of girls. Yet many haven't stopped for a moment to question what Disney might be saying to young boys. In all their films, Disney always portrays a prince to act as a match for the princess. This guy is usually handsome, strong, and brave. He sometimes doesn't have very much to say, but in the end his mission is always the same: rescue the princess. What this can unfortunately teach young men is that without them, pretty girls are defenseless beauty queens that must be saved while unattractive girls are not worth the time. It fails to promote a healthy view of men treating women with respect so much as it does allow room for the male chauvinistic attitude to take hold. Furthermore it is teaching boys that in order to get the girl of their dreams they must live up to being a prince, or whatever that means. In the end Aladdin had to be made a prince in order to be with Jasmine and guys with a heart of gold like Quasimodo should never even hope to win the heart of a gorgeous woman like Esmeralda.
