Another example of something following two young people in the background (a niche, but fruitful category) is this sequence from the beginning of 2001's Jeepers Creepers.
Trish and Darry Jenner are driving home from college when a beat-up old truck attempts to run them off the road. This sets in motion a catastrophic chain of events when the two siblings spot the same truck later on. Only this time, there's a dead body in the back.
Upon a re-watch, you can see the course of this film take shape much earlier than you first thought.
As the Jenners are driving and talking, the truck can be seen a long way down the road. Over the course of the conversation, it gets closer and closer, until its fully in shot and gets to rammin'.
Whilst a first-time viewer might not notice the oncoming vehicle, anyone who knows where the story is going will recognise it as a harbinger of things to come.
A fantastic use of foreshadowing, the opening of Jeepers Creepers sets out its stall nice and early and proves that you should never ever trust anyone who drives a truck.
