5. The Dolls - Scream

Much has been made over the years about the brilliant twists and subversions contained in Wes Craven's Scream.

The 1996 slasher is full of little hints that not all is as it seems, eventually leading to the big reveal that both Billy Loomis and Stu Macher are masquerading as the killer Ghostface.

One of the best subtle clues to this comes close to the film's end. As Sidney Prescott is being chased by the big GF through Stu's house, we follow her into a very strange room. Why is it strange? Because there are several mutilated dolls hanging from the ceiling, that's why!

Okay, so this is a little weird, but maybe Stu just really likes dolls? Who are we to judge?

What's less avoidable is the fact that one of the dolls bears more than a slight resemblance to one of Ghostface's earliest victims, Casey Becker. It's also strung up in the same was Casey was from the tree outside her parents' home.

Fan account Scream_Obsessed picked this one up on Twitter; yet another reminder of just how damn good Craven was at making the spooky movies.
