The traumatic tale of Roy Munson - bowling prodigy turned one-handed drunk living in a grim motel beyond even his meansis an enduringly entertaining one, particularly as it marks the time before the Farrelly Brothers took their gross-out act too far. The culture clash Amish-awakening frolic is as hilarious as it is outrageous as Roy and his unlikely prodigy Ishmael attempt to win bowling tournaments to save the latter's community. But before we get to Roy's redemption, we have to see some of his awful present, as he is forced to live at the mercy of a comically grotesque, disgruntled landlady with a penchant for making his life difficult (fairly justified since he doesn't pay his rent), and in one awful, haunting scene, we get an insight into how he gets around paying. When Roy attempts to win favor from her by staging a fake purse-snatching where he comes to her rescue, his plan is discovered after the fact and the landlady forces him to pay through "other" means. The sex, mercifully is off screen, but we witness the landlady's afterglow, and are then treated to an awful shot of her provoking Roy with what he has clearly just been doing with his tongue... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg3qj5I-28A
